Position
Parent Educator: 20 hours per week; 12 months per year
Join our mission to support families from the very beginning! We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and outgoing Parent Educator to provide guidance and support to families from pregnancy through age 5. This role implements the evidence-based Parents as Teachers (PAT) model to help parents become their child's first and most influential teacher.
Responsibilities- Plan and conduct regular home visits to provide developmental information and parenting support.
- Work with the Director to establish and implement the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Program.
- Conduct developmental screenings, facilitate playgroups, and lead group meetings.
- Lead recruitment activities and develop brochures, newsletters, and community announcements.
- Maintain detailed records of visits, prepare enrollment materials (forms/policies), and perform necessary clerical duties.
- Provide organization and coordination for PAT activities and participate in Advisory Committee meetings.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalency required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Background in Child Development and/or certification as a Parent Educator under the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is highly desirable. - Experience:
Proven experience working directly with parents and young children (prenatal to age
5). - Interpersonal
Skills:
Must be outgoing, comfortable meeting new people, and maintain a strictly nonjudgmental approach. - Professionalism:
Ability to work independently while observing strict confidentiality regarding family information. - Organization:
Well-organized with functional clerical skills and the ability to manage long-range planning.
$21.79 - $26.51 per hour (Commensurate with educational level)
