As a Superintendent for Merit Restorations, you will be responsible for daily management of on-site operations for residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, storms, and other disasters. In this position you will lead field teams, drive production, oversee quality & safety, keep job sites clean, interact with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. The most successful Superintendents at Merit Restorations are experts in construction with decades of real-life building experience.

Superintendents at Merit Restorations are working superintendents – This means hands-on construction skills will be equally as important as your leadership skills.

An experienced Superintendent who has extensive experience overseeing the daily management of on-site operations on all phases of construction projects. The purpose of this position is to supervise field production and on-site operations, including but not limited to, overseeing/managing field staff and subcontractors, interacting with vendors, clients, and inspectors, coordinate day to day trade contractor scheduling, scheduling of inspections, material deliveries & returns, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, quality control, job site safety, and making sure all work is proceeding on schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, manage, and improve business infrastructure and operations built around industry best practices to enhance efficiency, specifically around on-site production and performance.
  • Oversee procedures and processes for efficiency and thoughtfully implement recommendations to develop and improve them.
  • Oversee projects as they are being carried out to make sure that the work is done according to the outlined specifications, and that they also conform to the work project timetable.
  • Coordinate day to day trade contractor scheduling and supervise field production
  • Assist team with project planning and scheduling
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to identify and solve problems
  • Oversee quality control, ensure all work is being performed to our standards
  • Read and comprehend plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements and instructions
  • Perform miscellaneous hands-on tasks across most trades in support of our production partners for the benefit of the project schedule or budget.
  • Use hand and power tools
  • Confirm the accuracy of completed work and ensure all deficiencies are corrected.
  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities
  • Ensure safety requirements are met
  • Ensure proper signage is posted on the job site
  • Review the plans and specifications for construction and construction schedules.
  • Oversee preparation and ensure execution of job contract.
  • Negotiate with and select subcontractors to perform the work. Draft subcontracts.
  • Identify and track all long lead time items on the project critical path.
  • Prepare for and lead weekly progress meetings.
  • Anticipate issues and proactively works to avoid or resolve them.
  • Resolve interpersonal conflicts among project staff, handle errors or delays and respond to crisis.
