Position: Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant)

Job Summary

The TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track Physician Medical Director performs physical exams and partners with patients to create appropriate, evidence-based, medical treatment plans. Additionally, the Medical Director collaborates with the providers and Clinical Management team on patient cases and offers ongoing mentorship and supervision to Advanced Practice Providers (APRN/PA). The Medical Director assists with the direction and delivery of medical care and is responsible for maintaining relationships and coordinating activities of all providers, clinical staff, and operations.

Additionally, the Medical Director assists with the oversight of the development of clinically relevant education, training, and process improvement.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based, episodic care to patients based on current guidelines – independently and in collaboration with other medical providers – following standards and protocols set by TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track.
  • Work within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).
  • Function independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Partner with patients to determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary.
  • Safely prescribe and/or dispense medications.
  • Document medical information of patients and review patients’ histories at each visit.
  • Evaluate response to treatments and medications.
  • Consult, collaborate, and refer with other health care providers when appropriate.
  • Counsel patients and perform patient education.
  • Perform minor procedures, i.e., laceration repair, incision and drainage, minor foreign body removal, etc., within the limitations outlined in the company protocols.
  • Manage pediatric (3 months +) and adult patients for both acute and chronic conditions.
  • Actively maintain knowledge of current medical research and trends.
  • Provide administrative support or cross-coverage for reviewing laboratory tests, results, and prescription clarifications when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Complete scheduled training as required.
Education and Qualification Requirements
  • Current state licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Associate,
    required
  • Current BLS,
    required
  • Current certification with the NRCME to perform Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).
    required
  • Two years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate,
    strongly preferred
  • Clinical experience in an emergency medicine, urgent care, or ambulatory care setting,
    strongly preferred
  • DEA license with no restrictions,
    preferred
  • New graduates with significant procedural skills/experience will be considered
Work Environment and Schedule
  • This position operates on-site in a professional medical environment
  • Sunday-Saturday, 7:45am-8pm on a flexible scheduling basis (incl. weekends and holidays)
  • Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Salaried position for 10-13 shifts per month
  • Scheduling flexibility to include evenings and weekends
  • Travel to attend periodic off-site management meetings and training
