Responsibilities
  • Responds to supervisor, Lead BHT, and charge nurse on duty to continually monitor safety and interact appropriately with adult and adolescent patients.
  • Participates in Seclusion and Restraint (S&R) activities as necessary to maintain safety.
  • Completes all S&R documentation and any incident reports for every occurrence.
  • Interacts respectfully and in a dignified manner with patients, staff, visitors, etc.
  • Remains calm in crisis situations and makes safety the first priority.
  • Responds promptly to crisis situations and to patients displaying unsafe behavior.
  • Redirects patient behavior in a firm, respectful manner, participates in verbal de-escalation, and supports non-violent interventions with Handle with Care (HWC) to fidelity.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA and 42-CFR).
  • Performs routine unit tasks as directed by supervisor, Lead BHT, or charge nurse on duty.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor and assists with maintaining unit cleanliness.
  • Monitors patient behaviors and interactions.

Qualifications / Eligibility
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of experience interacting directly with individuals in a behavioral health setting.
  • Able to manage stressful situations with appropriate work demeanor and boundaries.
  • Excellent customer service; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass Level II Background clearance and drug test (CBHC is a drug-free workplace).
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, insurance, and safe driving record.
