Requirements
Key Responsibilities
India Legal Responsibilities - Primary
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial, procurement, supply chain, services, and operational contracts for India operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and company policies
Provide day-to-day legal advisory support to India business teams on commercial transactions, manufacturing operations, HR, and operational matters
Ensure manufacturing plants and corporate offices in India remain compliant with applicable Local, State, and Central laws, including laws governing manufacturing, labour, environmental, safety, and corporate regulations
Manage, monitor, and enhance the India compliance framework and compliance tools, including statutory compliance tracking, reporting, and audit readiness
Support corporate governance requirements for India entities, including board and committee matters, statutory filings, policies, delegations of authority, and internal governance frameworks
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisors on regulatory approvals, inspections, audits, and interactions with government authorities
Review and oversee pleadings, filings, opinions, and legal documentation prepared by external counsel for India matters
Identify legal, regulatory, and compliance risks impacting India operations and proactively recommend mitigation strategies
Global Legal Responsibilities- (Secondary)
Draft, review, and negotiate cross-border and global commercial contracts, (including agreements in EMEA and other regions), in alignment with global legal standards and business objectives
Support and lead centralized contracting initiatives, including effective utilization of the global contract lifecycle management (CLM) / contract management system
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve global contract templates, clause libraries, and negotiation playbooks in collaboration with global legal and business teams
Support digitalization and automation initiatives across contract lifecycle management, contract analytics, and compliance monitoring at a global level, including AI-enabled contracting tools
Drive consistency, efficiency, and scalability in global contracting processes through standardization and adoption of legal operations best practices
Partner with global and regional stakeholders to support commercial contracting strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
At least 8-10 years of relevant experience as a commercial transactions attorney in a top-tier law firm or an in-house legal department, preferably in global/MNC manufacturing (Prior experience in Automotive industry preferred). Extensive experience in commercial contracting, cross-border negotiations, and regulatory compliance
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university. Company Secretary (CS) qualification or membership of ICSI will be an added advantage
Demonstrated ability to learn business requirements quickly, analyze legal and commercial risks and propose creative, business-oriented solutions while minimizing risk to Envalior
Strong understanding of India's legal and regulatory framework (commercial, labor, environmental, factory, industrial laws)
Experience working in a matrix organization and interacting with global teams is highly preferred
