The Service Now Developer plays a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of Service Now solutions within the organization. This position is essential to ensure that the Service Now platform is effectively utilized to enhance service delivery and IT workflows. By leveraging Service Now's capabilities, the developer contributes to the automation of processes, streamlining operations, and improving overall user experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, specifically within Service Now, and will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify requirements, develop solutions, and provide ongoing support. The ability to problem-solve and think critically is vital, as the developer will need to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements to maximize system functionality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop custom applications and solutions on the Service Now platform.
Implement ITIL processes within Service Now to ensure best practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements.
Create and modify workflows and data models to enhance operational efficiency.
Utilize JavaScript to create client scripts and business rules.
Develop and maintain integrations between Service Now and other systems.
Perform regular system upgrades and patches with minimal downtime.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Service Now-related issues.
Document technical specifications and assembled code for future reference.
Monitor system performance and conduct ongoing maintenance.
Create user-friendly dashboards and reports to facilitate data visibility.
Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
Participate in system testing and ensure all features are working as intended.
Assist in training and supporting end-users on Service Now functionalities.
Stay updated with Service Now platform enhancements and industry trends.
Collaborate with the project team to improve existing functionalities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
2+ years of experience as a Service Now Developer or similar role.
Strong understanding of Service Now application architecture and capabilities.
Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other related technologies.
Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices.
Proficiency in Service Now scripting methods, including business rules and client scripts.
Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs for integration.
Knowledge of Service Now modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Asset Management.
Skilled in developing Service Portal applications using Angular
JS.
Understanding of version control systems, such as Git.
Problem-solving abilities to diagnose and address issues effectively.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Certifications in Service Now such as Certified System Administrator or Certified Implementation Specialist are a plus.
Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies is preferable.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
