An opportunity has arisen for an ESG Compliance Analyst to join the Global ESG team across all commodities. This is an opportunity to play a key role in capturing ECOM’s efforts to adhere to relevant environmental, social, and governance regulations and best practices for all ECOM trades.
The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners, to develop and implement due diligence across ECOM’s operations and supply chains. This role will have a particular focus on ECOM’s supply chains in Africa and requires willingness to travel to West and/or East Africa at least twice a year.
This role will be based in one of our ECOM offices in either Europe, UK or Africa. This role requires the candidate to be based at the office location, and due to the nature of the role we will be unable to provide visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities- To conduct regular ESG risk assessments for suppliers and ECOM operations
- Develop time-bound action plans based on risk assessments and best practices for identified ESG risks
- To support the further development of ECOM’s due diligence framework
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure ESG compliance across all business units
- Ensure local practices align with global ESG policies and regulatory requirements
- Communicate ESG requirements and best practices to relevant stakeholders
- Collect, validate, and analyse supplier ESG data and provide guidance and support to local teams on ESG-related matters
- Validate Deforestation Verification Protocol results, and provide feedback to origin teams
- Contribute to the development and implementation of ESG training programs and the training of DVP Assessors
- Contribute to internal and external ESG reports, including sustainability reports and regulatory filings
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of ESG compliance activities
- Assist in the development of ESG policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Identify opportunities for enhancing ESG performance and compliance processes
This role will suit an enthusiastic self-starter who has 1-3 years of work experience in ESG compliance, or a related ECOM business field (e.g. Shipping, Logistics & Sustainability). Strong knowledge of human rights due diligence, ESG principles and reporting frameworks are key as well as problem-solving and strong communication skills.
The individual must have a bachelor’s degree in human rights, sustainability or any related field, with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment, and who is proficient in data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI). The role would suit someone with a strong knowledge and experience of working with agricultural commodities, and knowledge of industry-specific ESG standards and best practices.
Fluency in English and French is essential, and any other languages would be an advantage.
