Manufacturing Engineering Technician
METER Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician who is responsible for programming, setting up, and maintaining automated equipment used in the production of electronic components and assemblies. This role ensures optimal machine performance, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates with engineering and production teams to meet quality and efficiency goals.
This role works from our Pullman, WA office.
The pay range for this role is $22.69–$33.52 (anticipated offer: $22.69–$28.00).
Minimum Qualifications- Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience programming SMT or other electronics manufacturing equipment.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assembly processes, and quality standards.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Program and operate SMT (Surface Mount Technology) machines, pick‑and‑place equipment, reflow ovens, and other automated manufacturing systems.
- Program and operate machines outside of the SMT area.
- Interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and Gerber files to create accurate machine programs.
- Perform machine setup, calibration, and first‑article inspection.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine errors, component placement issues, and process deviations.
- Collaborate with process engineers to optimize production workflows and reduce cycle times.
- Maintain accurate documentation of machine programs, setup sheets, and maintenance logs.
- Create and maintain production Power BI dashboards.
- Create software as needed for production division, QA software, and answer PA.
- Train operators and technicians on machine operation and best practices.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., IPC‑A‑610, ISO 9001) and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with Equipment Maintenance to identify failures in automated processes and implement long‑term fixes.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances as needed. Sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, and other movement consistent with an electronics production environment.
