Position Summary
CTL|Thompson, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Intern/Technician for seasonal employment with our Pueblo, CO office. The successful applicant must be enrolled in an engineering or engineering‑related discipline at a 4‑year college or university. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed design classes in concrete, soils, and other engineering materials. Engineering Technicians will perform field and/or laboratory observations, tests, and inspections on various projects, communicate with project managers, contractors, other engineering technicians, client representatives and field personnel, collect and transport sample specimens to the laboratory for testing, complete daily reporting, and maintain work areas and company vehicle and equipment.
Responsibilities may include assisting field managers in other assignments. All staff must comply with company policies and safety standards.
Engineering Technician I: $18.00–$31.00 per hour
Engineering Technician II: $21.00–$34.00 per hour
Engineering Technician III: $25.00–$38.00 per hour
Training is an essential component of this position. Individuals with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Areas of training include topics relative to your responsibilities and cross‑training of other areas to promote growth and development.

Training field staff
- Perform observations and testing in accordance with industry standards, training, and specified procedures.
- Document observations and test results accurately from the field visit.
- Generate field reports daily and review data prior to submission of report.
- Maintain considerable contact and communication with clients, contractors, suppliers, and design team personnel.
- Possess an in‑depth understanding of construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and other related documents.
- Troubleshoot field challenges, support field team, and communicate effectively.
- Consult with project managers on findings in the field and work closely with team members.
- Maintain and calibrate assigned equipment.
- Follow safety rules and practices, including project‑specific policies.
- Perform pre‑task planning prior to going to the field.
- Maintain quality standards for all assignments performed.

Engineering Technician I
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job‑related certifications preferred.
Engineering Technician II
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 applicable certifications.
- B.S. in geology.
Engineering Technician III
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 applicable certifications.
- B.S. in civil, geotechnical or related engineering field.
This job operates outside, in a field environment. While working in the field, employees will be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold and heat. Employees routinely use PPE and other safety equipment.
Physical/General Requirements- Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds at times.
- Ability to walk around construction sites with uneven and varying terrain.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Evening and weekend work likely.
- Verification of right to work in the United States, as demonstrated by completion of the I‑9 form upon hire and submission of acceptable documentation within three days of starting employment.
- Satisfactory completion of a drug test from a laboratory certified by Colorado and chosen (and paid for) by CTL|Thompson, Inc.
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with the company automobile insurance policy guidelines.
