Summary Of Functions

The Student Engagement Manager is an integral part of a comprehensive program that monitors and supports students (grades 6‑8, 9‑12) identified through analysis of risk factors to achieve the goal of graduating from high school. The Manager works directly with identified students and cooperatively with school principals and the central office to identify supports such as after‑school tutoring, workforce mentoring, community referrals, and sustained meetings with students and families.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a similar field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Education, Counseling, K‑12, secondary student advocacy, or work with at‑risk youth.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Reliable Transportation.
  • Must complete a fingerprint‑based criminal background check and be cleared by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.

Preferred

  • Experience working with at‑risk students and families.
  • Leadership role in supporting and monitoring at‑risk students.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
Skills And Knowledge
  • Knowledge of cultures, various communication and learning styles, and community resources that can be referred to students and families.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication, assessment, evaluation, plan implementation, and record maintenance.
  • Ability to relate to and work successfully with at‑risk students, parents, school staff, and community.
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

The following duties are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by this position. They are not exhaustive; additional duties may arise.

  • Assist Engagement Coordinators in monitoring student credit completion and identifying needed academic or other interventions.
  • Attend student success team meetings at each school to provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure quality team meetings leading to appropriate interventions.
  • Develop and manage common protocols for data collection and analysis among all Engagement Coordinators.
  • Work with Engagement Coordinators and administration to build proactive systems that ensure on‑time completion of middle school programming, transition to high school, and high school graduation for all students.
  • Train and support Engagement Coordinators in outreach activities to increase parental awareness and help students see the importance of their education (e.g., parent orientations, home visits, mentorships, apprenticeships).
  • Train and mentor Engagement Coordinators in working with specified at‑risk students, establishing rapport and open communication.
  • Maintain coordinated communication between Engagement Coordinators, the Center for High School Success, and D60.
  • Coordinate professional development for student success teachers and Engagement Coordinators.
  • Manage the coordination of data collection and analysis for tracking student success and supporting transitions for students in need of continuous support.
