Summary of FunctionsThe primary responsibility of the Science Teacher is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District policies and the teacher contract. The teacher also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
Required Qualifications- Valid Colorado teaching license within 60 days of hire.
- Science endorsement or high qualification through one of the following: endorsement, 36 semester credits in science, passing state‑board exam, eligibility for TiR or alternative licensing.
- Completion of fingerprint‑based criminal background check and clearance by OH personnel.
- Effective English communication skills.
- 3–5 years of successful teaching demonstrated by references, evaluations, and student growth.
- Experience with literacy instruction, Common Core standards, blended learning, AVID implementation.
- Experience in Title I or low‑income settings, Teach Like A Champion strategies, strong classroom routines.
- Experience with STEM philosophies and instructional practices.
- Establish clear classroom routines and procedures.
- Utilize data to plan and adapt instruction; submit lesson plans for feedback.
- Implement evidence‑based practices to build knowledge and skills.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
- Maintain professional attitude and work ethic.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborate in high‑performing teams to drive improvement.
- Use standards‑based grading.
- Knowledge of Common Core standards and curriculum alignment.
