Job Description Summary

The HR Benefits Coordinator manages the day-to-day administrative functions of the human resource office and the administration of the HR policies, procedures and programs. The HR Representative carries out administrative responsibilities in the following functional areas: policies, benefit programs, compensation and payroll, recruiting and staffing, training and development, employee relations and regulatory compliance such as employment laws, affirmative action and safety.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Supports the Company’s staffing/renewal initiatives by sourcing qualified talent for current and future opportunities.
  • Works with managers and supervisors to develop job specifications for openings, develops cost-effective recruiting strategies to attract talent; assists in employee assimilation and orientation to benefits, policies and practices.
  • Develops relationships with staffing agencies to assist with staffing demands.
  • Perform searches, interviews, applicant background and reference checks; identify the best candidate for the position; prepare and extend employment offers to applicants.
  • Work with management to develop and implement the various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Performs benefits administration to including enrollments and terminations.
  • Serve as a continuous resource to employees and management on HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations to ensure their compliance with current laws and regulations concerning HR related topics.
  • Serve as a resource for supervisors to ensure their understanding of compliance requirements regarding benefits, performance, disciplinary action, employee relations and company policies.
  • Assist in coordinating any temporary employees for locations including but not limited to: processing all temporary employees’ paperwork, hiring and terminating all temporary employees, and submitting payroll documents to temporary agencies on weekly basis.
  • Informs and explains company provided benefit programs (medical, dental, life, 401k, etc.) to employees and submits completed enrollment paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Scans and organizes documents into employees’ files.
  • Responsible for completing and filing unemployment claims, and also attending unemployment hearings when needed.
  • Other HR and payroll duties assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Required
  • Prior developed knowledge and understanding of HR policies and practices, labor and employment practices including, but not limited to, EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ERISA, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to process and conduct all reporting for laws and regulations above.
  • Minimum two years of human resources generalist experience, prefer experience with payroll processing.
  • Past experience with an HRIS system.
  • Two (2) years’ recruiting experience in the mining or manufacturing industry.
  • Focus on timely processing of data and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams, etc).
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; strong listening skills; ability to deal effectively with employees at all levels, applicants and external contacts.
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Human Resource Management or Business-related field preferred.
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred but not required.
  • HR or SHRM Certification preferred.
