Join us in Converting at our Prudhoe Mill and play a key part in driving performance, safety and engineering excellence.
About the Role
We’re recruiting a Mechanical Technician to join our Converting team at Prudhoe Mill. This position operates on a day shift, offering consistency and a strong work–life balance while supporting our Converting operations.
In this role, you’ll be the technical expert for your area, driving high standards across safety, quality and performance. You’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving our assets, contributing to maintenance KPIs, and ensuring budget accountability.
You’ll champion our “Run to Standard” culture, supporting teams to work safely, efficiently and consistently. As a key contributor to the Maintenance Roadmap, you’ll help shape the site’s development strategy while ensuring our assets are maintained at – and restored to – Basic Standard Condition.
What You Will Do
* Act as a role model for safety and compliant ways of working.
* Serve as the point of expertise in developing the Maintenance Journey within Converting.
* Drive a Zero Stops & Zero Breakdowns mindset, reducing unplanned downtime through the right maintenance strategies.
* Own the breakdown elimination process (OPA/OPL), maintenance KPIs and budget performance for your area.
* Analyse and build the maintenance skills needed across the team.
* Plan all maintenance activities in your working area.
* Coach colleagues in maintenance behaviours, tools and technical understanding.
* Develop a Skill and Capability Journey for the maintenance team, including Operator Maintenance, Planning and Scheduling.
* Manage and improve maintenance systems (SAP, Technical Database, CIL, etc.) and identify opportunities for new best practices.
* Own and develop high-quality maintenance standards, including SOPs.
* Contribute to the 5‑year asset development plan covering maintenance investments, sustainability actions and spare‑part optimisation.
Who You Are
* HNC‑qualified and time‑served with strong mechanical maintenance experience in the FMCG sector.
* Confident in applying and maintaining Basic Standard Condition and disciplined engineering standards.
* Experienced in using SAP to plan, record and manage maintenance activities.
* Methodical, organised and committed to consistent delivery of high-quality work.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and support team members.
* Passionate about Continuous Improvement and growing both personal and team capability.

At Essity, our purpose — Breaking Barriers to Well‑Being — shapes everything we do. Here, you’ll be valued, supported and empowered to grow. You’ll join a collaborative, open environment where innovation, teamwork and personal development are part of everyday life.
