UVU is seeking Certified Flight Instructors who are passionate about teaching and committed to student success. Graduated from high school or received a GED. This is a ladder position with pay rates dependent on experience and qualifications.
- The CFI and CFI1 certificates are required for all levels.
- The CFI 2 level requires 100 hours of flight instruction.
- The CFI 3 level requires 200 hours of flight instruction and an 80% first-time pass rate on practical test sign-offs.
- The CFI 4 level requires 400 hours of flight instruction and an 80% first-time pass rate on practical test sign-offs.
- The CFI 5 level requires standardization to teach in the multi-engine course; the CFI, CFII, and MEI certificates, and an 80% first-time pass rate on practical test sign-offs.
- FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane, and other ratings applicable to the responsibilities assigned.
- Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine and other ratings applicable to the responsibilities assigned.
- Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate.

- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, including FAR Part 141.
- Knowledge of standard pilot training practices and all applicable information resources.
- Knowledge required to demonstrate competence in the privileges of the pilot and instructor certificates held.
- Must regularly demonstrate competence in all operational duties, including piloting, flight instruction, ground instruction, and student evaluation.
