United Way of Utah County's Community Centers are dedicated to fostering connectedness and self‑efficacy within our communities. With three locations – Provo (South Franklin), Payson, and American Fork – our centers provide a welcoming space for individuals and families to learn, grow, and connect. We work with volunteers and partners to offer a wide range of free classes and activities, including playgroups, music lessons, choir, homework help, reading club, and adult classes such as Zumba, English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer literacy.

Position

Description

The PM Community Center Coordinator supports the evening operations and programming of the South Franklin Community Center. Working in close collaboration with the AM Coordinator, this position manages volunteers and interns, engages with community members, coordinates programs and events, and ensures the smooth and safe functioning of the center during afternoon and evening hours.

This part‑time position (25–28 hours per week) is scheduled for afternoon and evening hours, with occasional extended hours required for special events. The PM Coordinator reports to the Centers' Director and the South Franklin Community Center AM Coordinator and works closely with them to ensure continuity across programs and daily operations. While many responsibilities are handled independently, the role also involves regular collaboration on shared tasks, events, and center‑wide priorities.

Position

Responsibilities Volunteer Management
  • Communicate volunteer needs to AM Coordinator
  • Coordinate with Y-Serve program director regarding volunteers
  • Register and orient walk‑in volunteers
  • Ensure volunteers log hours accurately
  • Maintain ongoing communication with evening volunteers
  • Collaborate with AM Coordinator to plan volunteer appreciation
  • Keep volunteer records current in the database
Intern Management
  • Collaborate with AM Coordinator for recruitment, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Be the main point of contact for the interns
  • Organize, lead, and oversee intern training each semester
  • Create intern schedules and assign class responsibilities
  • Conduct weekly check‑ins with each intern to supervise their progress, direct the development of their projects, and build connections.
  • Provide oversight and feedback on intern projects
  • Ensure interns log hours
  • Participate in intern orientation and appreciation planning
Community Engagement
  • Build relationships with community members and families
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive culture
  • Help ensure a safe and respectful environment by enforcing center policies
Program Coordination
  • Oversee interns' daily program support tasks (e.g., snack distribution, class reminders)
  • Plan and coordinate evening events (e.g., Digital Inclusion Graduation, Community Cafes)
  • Manage the private music lessons program
  • Collaborate with AM Coordinator and Parent Leadership Council on monthly Community Cafes
  • Assist with large event planning (e.g., Halloween, Christmas, Music Recital, etc.)
  • Attend and support all center events
  • Contribute to semester planning and program scheduling
Data and Records
  • Ensure all program participants and volunteers are registered and tracked
  • Work with interns to accurately record attendance and volunteer hours
  • Track snack distribution and ensure sign‑off procedures
  • Take and post program photos/videos and live social media updates
  • Gather volunteer/participant stories for reporting and outreach
Collaboration with AM Coordinator
  • Communicate daily with AM Coordinator about scheduling and program needs
  • Hold weekly check‑ins to coordinate calendars and responsibilities

    Share responsibility for keeping community center email, voicemail, and social media messages monitored
  • Maintain building operations (e.g., facility requests and cleaning)
  • Jointly ensure adherence to safety policies
Closing Responsibilities
