FSY HR Administrator

The FSY HR Administrator plays a critical role supporting the For the Strength of Youth (FSY) program by providing day‑to‑day HR guidance, employee relations support, and compliance oversight for FSY Summer Staff. This is a unique, embedded HR role that formally reports to CE Human Resources while working day‑to‑day within the FSY Hiring Department alongside the FSY Assistant Director over Summer Staff.

What

You’ll Do In This Position
  • Serve as a resource to the FSY Assistant Director over summer staff to manage employee relations and accommodation cases for FSY Summer Staff, including investigations, documentation, progressive discipline, and terminations
  • Apply proper case management practices, ensuring accurate documentation and consistent, compliant decision‑making
  • Lead the interactive process for staff accommodation requests in coordination with FSY leadership, Church HR, and Church Legal
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to FSY leadership on hiring practices, performance management, and HR best practices
  • Collaborate closely with Church Legal, Church HR, CE HR, BYU Legal, and CE Legal to ensure compliance with employment laws and Church policies
  • Support compliance with state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour requirements where applicable
  • Support the FSY Hiring Team as appropriate with Workday functionality and troubleshooting
  • Assist with training development and HR education for FSY leadership and staff

  • Young Adult members of the Church who serve as FSY Summer Staff and mentor youth participants
  • FSY leadership, session administrators, and hiring teams
  • Church and University HR and legal partners
  • The majority of this position involves direct interaction with FSY Summer Staff
Required Qualifications
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, 5 years of experience in a human resource position OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership and personnel management skills, including delegation, supervision, motivation, discipline, and accountability.
  • Strong expertise in HR management, employment law, performance management, interviewing, hiring, training, and staff development.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, conflict resolution, listening, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong time‑management skills; able to meet deadlines, manage high‑level relationships, and balance customer service with compliance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, PHR, SPHR, 10 years of relevant HR experience, and 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Church and CE policies, procedures, systems, and organizational environment.
  • Understanding of CE services, programs, and operational structure.
  • Familiarity with CE hiring processes and workforce needs.
  • Awareness of CE career paths and the job skills required across roles.
