Job Description HRIS ManagerThe HRIS Manager leads the strategic direction, design, and operation of the university’s Human Resources Information System (Workday), ensuring it meets the evolving needs of HR management. This role manages a high‑performing team, drives innovation, and oversees all aspects of system functionality, integrations, security, and process optimization to support institutional goals.
What You’ll Do In This Position Set the Strategic Direction for HRIS- Own and guide the long‑term HRIS and ERP roadmap, ensuring alignment with university goals.
- Drive system innovation, prioritize work, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee system architecture, integrations, security roles, and business processes across HR and payroll.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex system issues and ensure reliable, secure operations.
- Manage and mentor senior analysts, professional staff, and student employees.
- Establish performance metrics, governance practices, and work management frameworks that promote excellence and growth.
- Act as the primary HRIS liaison with executive leaders and campus partners.
- Translate technical concepts into clear business value and foster strong cross‑campus collaboration.
- Lead Agile practices, release management, testing, and change initiatives.
- Evaluate and improve business processes to enhance system adoption and effectiveness.
- Oversee vendor relationships and evaluate new technologies to ensure BYU remains at the forefront of HRIS best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible HRIS, HR technology, or ERP system administration experience.
- Workday HCM experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise system functions, technical architecture, integrations, and security.
- Strong project management skills, including Agile methodology experience.
- Proven executive‑level communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional certifications (e.g., SHRM‑SCP, PHR, Workday Pro, PMP).
- Experience in higher education or large, complex organizations.
