BSN Instructor

Instruction
  • Deliver high-quality instruction and facilitate student learning across all assigned clinical rotations, laboratory sessions, and simulated clinical experiences (SCE), following the course syllabus and standard course outline.
  • Ensure students achieve all required course competencies and learning outcomes as defined in the syllabus.
  • Supervise, debrief, and objectively evaluate student performance in clinical, laboratory, simulation, and related educational settings.
  • Maintain regular availability and accessibility to students through email, phone, virtual meetings, and in-person conferences to support their academic success.
  • Fulfill all scheduled teaching, clinical, and programmatic responsibilities on time. Promptly notify the Program Director or Academic Dean in advance if any scheduled session cannot be met.
  • Ensure that classrooms, laboratories, simulation areas, and pre-/post-conference rooms are left clean, organized, and fully prepared for the next session.
Training and Professional Development
  • Actively participate in New Faculty Orientation and the Faculty Mentor Program to ensure a successful transition into the role.
  • Develop and maintain a personalized faculty development plan in collaboration with academic administration.
  • Attend all required campus faculty meetings, in-service trainings, and other assigned meetings to stay aligned with institutional goals and initiatives.
  • Stay current in the field by continuously updating program knowledge, maintaining active licensure and certifications, and fulfilling all continuing education requirements.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and subject‑matter expertise.
Administrative
  • Maintain accurate attendance records for every class, lab, simulation, and clinical session; post attendance in the student portal and submit rosters to the Academic Department in a timely manner.
  • Assign and submit student grades and maintain all course and student records in full compliance with FERPA regulations, meeting all established deadlines.
  • Promptly contact students who miss or fail to actively participate in laboratory, simulation (SCE), or clinical experiences to support re‑engagement and document follow‑up.
  • Exercise academic freedom responsibly and adhere to all policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator, Lead Instructor, or Academic Dean.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course. Participate in the preparation of the final evaluations for the course.
  • Responsible for assuring class attendance and grades are kept and submitted.
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
  • Plan and implements orientation of new faculty in both theory and clinical facilities for the courses.
  • Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction.
  • Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Maintain student records of attendance, skills check‑off forms, and assist with program data collection.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program.
  • Attend faculty meetings.
  • Plan and supervise student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities.
  • Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes in accordance with policies and procedures established by the College, Department of Nursing.
  • Provide feedback of clinical performance or specific event immediately after observation.
  • Assist in maintaining student records of clinical attendance, skills check‑off forms, and assist with program data collection.
