Position: CFAC Career Manager (part-time 28 hours/week)

Overview

CFAC Career Manager (part-time 28 hours/week). Support students in Art, Design, and Theatre & Film as they explore career paths, build professional networks, and pursue post-graduation goals through personalized advising and collaboration with faculty and staff. This role also includes teaching career development content, engaging with industry professionals to foster employer connections, and staying current with market trends to align opportunities with student aspirations.

What

You’ll Do In This Position
  • Empower students to identify and achieve desired career outcomes.
  • Assist students in understanding their strengths, and developing their career and life plans, including preparing for graduate school.
  • Guide students in utilizing practices of effective job search strategies.
  • Counsel students to employ principles of professional communication while networking and interviewing.
  • Advise students regarding use of best practices in applying for jobs (e.g., preparing resumes and cover letters).
  • Teach courses relevant to career success.
  • Support students in employing factors of effective career opportunity evaluation.
  • Facilitate connections between students and employers.
  • Optimize employer engagement by developing, maintaining, and enhancing employer relationships with students, alumni, and faculty.
  • Cultivate relationships with priority organizations through strategic recruiting plans.
  • Facilitate meaningful networking and mentoring opportunities with employers to actively recruit BYU students and to provide co-curricular career opportunities such as employer panels or meetups, industry-specific networking events, and career treks.
  • Conduct and participate in strategic off-campus employer outreach in collaboration with university colleagues.
  • Be a leader of career development at BYU and coordinate career initiatives with external partners.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of career outcomes for assigned area, university- and industry-wide.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other regional and CES institutions related to assigned area.
  • Contribute to the body of knowledge of trends, best practices, and research in higher education Career Services.
  • Participate in professional development, benchmarking activities, and involvement with national, regional, and state professional organizations.
  • Help faculty and staff to incorporate career development as a component of their academic programs and services.
  • Encourage faculty and staff to utilize and refer students to career resources.
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience in higher education, career teaching, or career advising college students or industry experience related to disciplines in art, design, theatre, music, dance, communications, or media arts.
  • Ability to interface with employers to promote the institution, its students, and alumni.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with team, colleagues, and outside partners.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in higher education, career teaching, or career advising college students or industry experience related to disciplines in art, design, theatre, music, dance, communications, or media arts.

Pay Grade: 52

Typical Starting Pay: $31.25 to $40.50 an hour
