Position SummaryThe Adjunct Faculty
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, provides instruction in foundational courses that support the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality education focusing on engaging students in the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors when caring for individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan.
- Teach assigned general education courses in critical thinking and problem solving in accordance with the BSN curriculum and accreditation standards.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, classroom activities, and assessments that promote student learning.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through examinations, projects, and other graded activities.
- Evaluate and monitor student performance, providing timely feedback and academic support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress in compliance with institutional policies.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum development, review, and assessment to ensure alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student populations.
- Integrate learning strategies that strengthen students' readiness for upper-division nursing coursework.
- Collaborate with nursing and general education faculty to support student retention and academic success.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and institutional committees as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Academic Dean or Program Director.
- Strong subject matter expertise in critical thinking and problem solving and the application in healthcare.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to create a supportive and student-centered classroom environment.
- Proficiency in instructional technology and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Commitment to academic integrity and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
- Master's degree in the Nursing or a closely related field required.
- Prior college-level teaching experience preferred (experience in postsecondary or nursing education a plus).
- Familiarity with general education outcomes in healthcare-related degree programs preferred.
