The Role
The Traveling Periodontal Dental Assistant is essential to maintaining consistency, training other dental assistants, and ensuring each location is fully prepared for periodontal procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Welcome and prepare patients for periodontal treatments.
- Assist the periodontist with 4‑handed dentistry, surgical setups, and perio procedures.
- Select, set up, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Manage and order supplies for the traveling perio kit.
- Communicate supply needs to each office.
- Complete lab tasks as instructed.
- Provide post‑operative instructions.
- Maintain clean, organized, and well‑stocked operatories.
- Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records.
- Proven experience as a periodontal or specialty dental assistant; lead‑level assistant.
- Leadership skills:
Ability to train other DAs and oversee perio setup consistency. - Technical skills:
Strong knowledge of periodontal instruments, surgical procedures, and sterilization protocols. - Organization:
Excellent attention to detail; ability to manage inventory across multiple locations. - Communication:
Strong communication skills with patients, teams, and office leadership. - Regulatory understanding:
Knowledge of health & safety regulations.
