PositionWe are currently seeking a Remote Part-Time On-Call Aquatics Examiner. Minimum availability requirements are 3 consecutive days per week from May–August. The ideal candidate will reside in or near Los Angeles, CA;
Kansas City, MO;
Nashville, TN; or Washington, D.C.
Aquatic Examiners are a key part of the American Red Cross Aquatic Examiner Service. They visit aquatic facilities across the country to provide direct services. Their feedback and reports help management develop procedures that recognize aquatic hazards and outline effective responses to aquatic emergencies. They also support community and full-service customers as instructors, provide high-quality instruction, timely reports, and maintain equipment.
KEYResponsibilities
- Recording video of on-duty lifeguards in undercover capacity and during demonstrations.
- Reviewing aquatic facility documentation related to lifeguard operations.
- Evaluating lifeguard performance in surveillance and emergency response skills on-site.
- Preparing reports and evaluation forms as required.
- Identifying improvement opportunities for lifeguarding operations based on the American Red Cross Lifeguarding program.
- Conducting in-service training sessions and/or aquatic emergency action plan drills.
- Maintaining, managing, and storing all assigned equipment.
- Adhering to financial and travel policy regarding AES guidelines for travel arrangements.
- Assisting in service delivery engagement activities and providing feedback as assigned.
- Teaching Red Cross Training Services instructors within current certifications to businesses and the community as needed.
- Participating in an in-person annual training course to maintain Aquatic Examiner appointment and demonstrate instructor-level proficiency.
- Commitment to provide at minimum 3 consecutive days per week May–August; no minimum in off-season.
The salary range is $23.00–$26.00 per hour. Salary ranges vary by geographic location. The specific salary will be shared during phone screening based on location and qualifications.

Note:
A combination of candidate's education and general experience may satisfy requirements, with total years equating to the minimums. Management experience cannot be substituted.
Regularly sit and use hands; talk or hear. Reach with hands and arms. Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work environment is moderate noise. Ability to work in a small cubicle and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
Traveland Work Hours
Ability to travel 75%+; able to work long days and teach in multiple environments.
Preferred Qualifications- Current American Red Cross certifications:
Lifeguarding Instructor;
Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED;
Lifeguard Management; appropriate basic-level certification for waterfront or water park evaluations. - At least 3 years of experience teaching American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses with at least one class taught in the past year.
