SUMMARYThe General Maintenance Worker reports to the Manager Facilities Planning and Operations Management. Under general supervision and within Brown University Health policies and procedures, the role performs routine repair and maintenance functions at Brown University Health outreach sites. - Receive work orders for a wide range of repair/maintenance requests at various affiliate off‑site locations.
- Perform rebuilding/repairing of furniture, walls, windows, medical exhibits, and installation and replacement of countertops, floor and ceiling tiles, fixtures, drywall, handrails, locks, hardware, ceramic tile, and wall hangings.
- Install, repair, and adjust keyboard trays; remove and replace HIPAA bins.
- Execute plastering, painting, staining, varnishing, wallpaper hanging, sealant application, and protection of interior surfaces.
- Move and relocate office furniture and equipment.
- Resolve minor plumbing and electrical problems that do not require licensed tradespersons, including installation and maintenance of plumbing fixtures and electrical components.
- Install and replace bulbs, batteries in emergencyחרי lighting fixtures, and check breakers, plugs, and switches for proper operation.
- Evaluate problems to determine if additional contractors are required.
- Complete inspections of fire extinguishers and emergency lights.
- Perform ground work such as trash pickup, curb sweeping, and maintenance of landscaping beds.
- Assist with snow and ice removal at all off‑site locations using Brown University Health equipment.
- Communicate with customers regarding schedules and work completion.
- Maintain basic records: work orders, requisitions, and vehicle inspection sheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic Knowledge
:
High School Graduate or GED with vocational courses in HVAC or other building trade; construction or building specialty certification is preferred. - Knowledge of all phases of maintenance and repair trades. Uns clear.
- Experience
:
Minimum 2–3 years in a journeyman‑level skilled labor position in indoor and outdoor field environments, traveling between sites and:
H[^] climbed”*. - Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift moderate to heavy loads; operate hand and power tools and equipment.
- Valid driver’s license, dependable vehicle, proof of insurance, and a good driving record.
$20.96 – $34.61
