Dining Experience Associate

RISD Dining is actively seeking a full‑time Dining Experience Associate (DEA) to join its in‑house dining, catering, and markets & vending program. The DEA supports local farms through seasonally‑inspired menus and delivers exceptional hospitality to the greater community.

Essential Functions
  • Set up and open dining locations campus‑wide; move from one auxiliary operation to another to ensure all food items and supplies are available.
  • Prepare condiment and coffee stations, brew coffee, and fill condiments as predetermined by each location.
  • Post menus and prices and become familiar with ingredients in each menu item.
  • Receive, stock, and properly display items.
  • Serve a heavy volume of customers in a timely, courteous manner, representing RISD and the Dining department professionally.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for proper cash handling; maintain cashier’s log and verify cash drawer.
  • Follow specific procedures for ordering and receiving products to maintain desired inventory levels.
  • Keep all front‑of‑house areas clean and restocked; wipe, wash, sweep, and pick up debris.
  • Follow health‑code procedures, including temperature management, personal hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Use flexibility to work at various campus locations as directed by the supervisor.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts and guarantee the cleanliness of the assigned location.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • 1‑3 years of progressively responsible experience in restaurant, college, or café‑style food service.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Prior cash‑handling experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valued but Not Required Skills
  • Rhode Island sanitation/Serv Safe certification.

Work schedule:

Full‑time, 40 hours per week; coverage seven days per week (two days off) while school is in session. All Dining Services staff are essential personnel and must attend work even when the school is closed. Employment status:
Regular, Full‑time. Grade: 810NE.
