The Registered Nurse is an integral part of the health care team at Health Services that serves the diverse student population RN provides nursing care to students, administers medications and injections, performs ancillary testing and nursing procedures as indicated and provides patient education. The Registered Nurse is also responsible for providing triage to patients who present or call Health Services for assessment, treatment and/or advice.
This posting is for a per diem position, 1 shift a week or 4 shifts a month. Availability to work weekends and evenings is required.
Job QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required;
Master's degree preferred. - Valid Rhode Island RN license required.
- BLS CPR certification required.
- 3‑5 years of acute care nursing experience required, with a mix of ambulatory, emergency room and community health preferred.
- College health / adolescent health experience preferred.
Job Competencies
- Ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
- Must demonstrate excellent judgment and decision‑making skills.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Ability to provide culturally competent care to a diverse population required; experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
