Summary

The Supervisor Environmental Services reports to the Director Environmental Services Department. Supervises personnel on an assigned shift as well as performing a variety of attendant functions for the general purpose of providing the Hospital with a clean environment for patients, hospital employees and visitors. Responsibilities

Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

In collaboration with the Director is responsible for coordinating interviews and hires of new staff and assigns work functions for subordinate staff. Provides guidance and counsel to subordinate staff. Conducts periodic performance evaluations. Recommends personnel actions. Acts as a resource for staff. Conducts periodic individual and/or group meetings and in-service trainings. Prepares staffing schedule & provides back up staff when needed.

Provides and maintains subordinate staff development plans. Develops standards for subordinate staff performance. Plans, organizes and coordinates the daily operation of the environmental services department for assigned shift to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Participates in developing departmental policies and procedures. Participates in developing goals, objectives and organizational structure with department Director. Recommends changes to department structure and procedures as appropriate.

Recommends and implements departmental policies and procedures to affect continual improvement of efficiency of department and services performed. Tours assigned area checking the flow and quality of work being performed. Ensures cleaning materials are used according to approved procedures. Reports conditions that do not meet the standards to the Director. Issues keys at the beginning and end of each shift.

Issues supplies for each employee. Requisition s additional supplies as required. Responsible for the maintenance of department equipment. Makes minor repairs or report needs for servicing to Director. Maintains various department records as required. Communicates with supervisors from other departments to answer questions and resolve problems that may arise. Participates in department meetings. Maintains established hospital/department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.

Acts as Director representative when assigned. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Basic Knowledge:
Equivalent to completion of 4 years of high school preferred.

Experience:

Three environmental services experience. Three years of formal supervisory experience. Knowledge of environmental services methods, techniques, products and equipment required.

Work Environment and

Physical Requirements

Considerable walking and standing; occasional exposure to adverse conditions while inspecting. Directly supervises personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision for up to 20 FTEs. Supervision includes scheduling, training and recommendation of personnel actions.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $43,596.80-$71,988.80
