Overview
As supervised by the Information Services Training Manager, coordinates, develops and provides professional-level training to users of the electronic health record system and other applications as required. Serves as a highly valued organizational asset and a recognized training leader within the Brown University Health Information Services department and Training Team. Works collaboratively with the IS Training Manager to analyze, design, deliver, and evaluate training programs, curricula, and learning assessments.
Consults on and facilitates assessments of employee skills related to electronic records technologies, business operations, and clinical management, among other functions. Assesses and advises on various aspects of project implementation related to technology, training, and continuous process workflow improvements. - Coordinate training resources to meet the training needs of users of Brown University Health technology systems, leveraging electronic learning management systems available.
- Facilitate and coordinate the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs in support of successful system or module implementation and optimization, using methods that meet or exceed established training standards.
- Coordinate and monitor service requests/incident tickets received by IS Training, prioritizing tasks, delegating when appropriate, and ensuring timely responses.
- Manage the On Call system to support ongoing coverage for customers.
- Mentor Senior and Principal Trainers, providing learning opportunities and knowledge sharing.
- Lead high-visibility, critical projects, demonstrating effective management and excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to leadership.
- Train applications, processes, or major workflows outside the Life Chart system as requested and agreed with the Training Manager.
- Analyze changes in policies, technologies, and special needs to anticipate training needs and ensure programs address identified needs of individuals and work groups.
- Consult with managers and supervisors to diagnose and address system-related challenges and plan appropriate problem‑solving interventions.
- Manage all administrative aspects of assigned educational programs, including scheduling, announcements, handouts, follow-up communications, audiovisual arrangements, registration, and documentation.
- Attend external workshops and conferences to research information, evaluate performance of external training consultants, and keep professional skills current.
- Serve on task forces, process improvement teams, and committees; represent Brown University Health in relationships with colleges/universities offering degree and non‑credit programs.
- Supervise projects and activities of graduate student interns in technical training or management fields.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, education, business, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Technical knowledge and analytical ability to incorporate instructional technology effectively into adult educational programming.
- Professional-level knowledge of design, administration, implementation, and evaluation of adult educational programming related to technology implementation.
- Demonstrated aptitude for systems and workflow analysis, including successful completion of vendor-provided screening test and certification processes.
- Strategic thinking to influence planning and forecasting of the organization’s technology training needs.
- Superior platform skills for effective training delivery and ability to write clear instructional documentation.
- Experience with electronic health record and/or other enterprise-wide clinical or administrative health-related technology platforms.
