Overview
The Oncology Diagnostic Liaison has a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact in patient lives. Under the general direction of the Pfizer Oncology Commercial Diagnostics Leader, this role plans and executes all aspects of the organization’s Pathology / Diagnostic Market and Access strategy. The position has autonomy and requires a self-driven candidate to deliver results.
The primary responsibility is to liaise with pathology groups, diagnostic groups, and key stakeholders of reference laboratories to build a core diagnostic foundation for our current and future pipeline products. The Oncology Diagnostic Liaison reports to the Commercial Diagnostics Leader.
- Under the general direction of the Pfizer Oncology Commercial Diagnostics Leader, plan and execute all aspects of the organization’s Pathology / Diagnostic Market and Access strategy for the assigned region.
- Develop key messaging and education tactics within the assigned region to positively impact pathology targets.
- Act as the primary liaison with regional pathology groups, diagnostic groups and key stakeholders of reference laboratories and key institutional accounts to build and maintain a core diagnostic foundation for current and future pipeline products.
- Educate pathologists on new therapy-driven emerging biomarkers of interest and utility of said biomarkers (pre- and post-approval).
- Proactively and independently establish laboratory relationships and connections within the regional pathology and oncologist community to improve understanding of ordering the right test, at the right time, with the right protocols for better patient identification and diagnosis.
- Attend diagnostic advisory boards and pathology-related congresses as needed to network, influence, and increase awareness and understanding of diagnostic testing in relation to Pfizer Oncology products.
- Monitor the latest developments within the therapeutic area and discuss all aspects of the patient biopsy, tissue journey, and technical challenges along the tumor and patient diagnosis.
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience working with and training pathologists on emerging data concerning accurate IHC testing and reporting
- Deep laboratory experience or understanding of workflow within academic/community institutions and national/regional reference labs
- Ability to develop and execute a territory/regional plan to impact pathology targets and drive education with key messaging within assigned territory/region
- Experience presenting and articulating educational and complex information to key stakeholders/decision makers (pathologists, oncologists, lab techs, executives)
- Passionate about making a difference for oncology patients
- Creative thinking, ability to convert ideas into action, and sense of urgency
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Cross-functional collaboration with internal and external customers
- Critical thinking and openness to different opinions to reach optimal solutions
- High level of focus, discipline, integrity, and leadership
- Strong IT knowledge to operate company systems and programs
- Reliable transportation with a clean driving record
- Field-based position with frequent travel
- Oncology experience with in-depth knowledge of diagnostics in Lung, GI, GU, and Hematology
- Basic understanding of hospital EMRs flow and Laboratory LIS
- Understanding of IHC, FLOW, FISH, PCR, and NGS testing methodologies
- Pharmaceutical oncology experience
- Scientific Advanced Degree preferred

Non-standard Work Schedule, Travel or EnvironmentAbility to travel frequently and over weekends for conferences, advisory boards, and meetings may be necessary.
