Podiatrist, DPM

Opportunity in Rhode Island

Providence Community Health Centers is hiring a Podiatrist to meet the needs of our patient population in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Podiatrist (Medical/Surgical) focuses on evaluation and treatment of diseases of the foot and ankle with emphasis in health and conditions affecting the lower extremities. The care provided will be inclusive of initial assessment, minor procedures and procedures that require operative treatment in the hospital as well as appropriate triage where necessary.

Podiatry clinic is in PCHC’s beautiful community health complex on Prairie Avenue in the heart of Providence, RI.

Overview

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Clinical Knowledge
  • Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of medical conditions.
  • Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant, and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results.
  • Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and alters the plan of care as needed.
  • Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
  • Counsels and educates patients and families.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice area.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Patient Care
  • Provides care that is patient and family centered, compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness and treatment of disease throughout the lifespan.

Podiatry Specific Practice Attributes

Provides consultative care to all PCHC providers.

Weekday, office hour availability for patient assessment.

Coordination of care for patients with operative needs.

Coordination of care for patients with wound needs.

Qualifications

Education – Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required. Active Rhode Island Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) license Drug Enforcement Agency license. Maintain appropriate hospital privileges in accordance with PCHC policies.

Experience – 5 years of experience in podiatric medicine preferred. Including ability to assess acute and chronic conditions of the foot/ankle with appropriate implementation of treatment plan (which may include triage to operative specialties)

  • General Podiatry knowledge base
  • Minor procedures (in office) and procedures requiring the operating room. Bilingual and bicultural skills valued.
