Overview
Job Summary: The Medical Technician II (Histologic Technician) performs routine and special tests according to written protocols to determine test results that will assist in diagnosing and treating patients.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and special histology tests according to established protocols to determine results used in patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Work with laboratory staff to ensure quality control and timely reporting of test results.
- Education:
High School Diploma, GED (grandfathered) or associate’s degree with previous experience in Histology. - Licensure/Certification:
All employees hired during or after 2016 must be a graduate of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) approved program for Histotechnology and eligible to sit for the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) examination, or have been working in the field prior to 2016. - Experience/
Skills:
Prolonged standing, climbing or bending may be required. Finger and manual dexterity may be required to manipulate small objects and supplies. Proficiency in the English language required. Possible exposure to communicable diseases or hazardous or toxic materials.
