Under the general supervision of the Manager of Medical Imaging, the Radiology Tech Assistant performs various functions to support daily operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Division. Responsibilities include patient transportation for radiographic procedures, patient preparation, room readiness, cleanliness, and inventory management. The role works directly with Imaging Technologists to ensure high‑quality imaging services, prioritizes workload, and demonstrates critical thinking within formal training to improve operational efficiencies.

All functions consider age‑specific needs of adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients and adapt to physical, psychological, and cultural needs. • Transports patients to and from imaging modalities and adheres to safety guidelines for MRI, CT, X‑Ray, and Nuclear Medicine.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of imaging rooms, patient changing rooms, and equipment.
• Maintains and inventories supplies, orders as needed, and tracks expiration dates.
• Prepares contrast material as permitted, secures transport equipment, and cleans stretchers and wheelchairs.
• Greets patients, explains procedures, and assists with dressing and positioning.
• Assists technologists during procedures, including IV catheter insertion, oxygen support, and radiation safety.
• Matches specimens for lab, records patient information in PACS and Life Chart, and assists with clerical duties such as answering phones and data entry.
• Supports department during downtime and trains new staff.
• Provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care while maintaining safety, quality assurance, and infection control.
• Reports adverse reactions or equipment issues immediately.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High School diploma or equivalent, proficient in English, basic arithmetic, and knowledge of radiation safety and ALARA. Demonstrates ability to care for patients across age and cultural groups.
EXPERIENCE: Preferably completed a Tech Assistant training program or similar experience; clinical background or enrollment in a healthcare track program. Basic Life Support and IV Certification required within six months of hire.

Regular exposure to patients and potential contagious diseases; responsibilities include standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and operating equipment. Requires manual dexterity and adherence to safety protocols and protective equipment.

Performs tasks independently within department policies; escalates complex problems to management.
