Summary

Reports to the Clinical Manager of Endoscopy and Radiology Nursing and coordinates the flow of patients through Endoscopy while performing a variety of clerical and administrative support duties. Communicates and collaborates with unit leadership, staff, providers, and outpatient offices. Responsibilities
  • Coordinates assignment of Endoscopy cases to rooms and notifies staff of changes or delays in the procedural schedule.
  • Completes necessary documentation in the electronic system for add‑on cases and schedules them appropriately.
  • Prepares all paper and electronic records necessary to process daily activities in Endoscopy.
  • Collaborates with scheduling department and is proficient in the utilization of Op‑time Scheduling.
  • Assists in procedure booking and communicates with outpatient offices.
  • Answers the telephone and call lights in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Greets patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Coordinates transportation of patients from the waiting area to Endoscopy and upon discharge out of the department.
  • Maintains inventory and orders office and medical supplies according to knowledge of usage patterns and budgeted allowances.
  • Provides functional guidance to new staff regarding clerical operations and Endoscopy unit flow.
  • Prepares and reviews procedure schedules and assures appropriate equipment and supplies are available.
  • Proficient in the use of Safety Net for addressing unit safety concerns.
  • Assists in Environment of Care Rounds, placing work orders as necessary to comply with hospital and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Participates in unit staff meetings and records minutes.
  • Assists with maintenance of posted communications on unit with memorandum to staff.
  • Updates policy manuals as required.
  • Provides support for the unit in achievement of hospital and unit quality indicators.
  • Assists with distribution and collection of quality audits and data.
  • Assists with entering patient charges to generate appropriate revenue for the unit and reviews and reconciles these charges daily.
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills required to interface effectively with physicians, endoscopy staff members, and others.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and proficient computer skills required.
  • One year of experience in a hospital or related healthcare environment required.
  • Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact.
