Under general supervision and established policies, the incumbent performs administrative duties to expedite each patient’s clinical visit. Duties include patient record preparation, registration, appointment scheduling, co‑payment collection, coding/billing, and follow‑up care tracking.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule patients and appointments using the hospital’s scheduling system.
- Complete pre‑registration and registration using the online billing system.
- Verify demographic data, insurance authorizations, and collect co‑pays.
- Enter diagnosis/service codes from encounter sheets and code/refer billing issues.
- Communicate with patients and Patient Financial Services to resolve billing denials.
- Conduct insurance eligibility checks and obtain pre‑authorizations according to policy.
- Provide high‑quality customer service and greet patients upon arrival.
- Handle phone calls, appointment reminders, and referral inquiries.
- Maintain patient files and ensure all documents are complete prior to clinic visit.
- Generate reports, manage registration errors, and assist with referral management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of PC skills and Microsoft Windows operating system.
- Experience with medical billing and coding, including ICD‑10/CPT codes.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedure codes.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
- At least six months of experience coding and billing using an online system.
Physical Requirements
Walks, sits, and stands throughout the day in a clinic setting.
CompensationPay Range: $21.26 - $21.81 per hour
