Job SummaryUnder supervision of up-line management, enforces the regulations and policies of Providence Water that pertain to protection of its watershed lands, reservoirs, aqueducts, and other facilities.
This position is from 7 am – 3:30 pm or 12 pm – 8 pm;
Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday.
- Patrols Providence Water properties on foot, vehicle, or by watercraft and confronts violators of regulations, encourages the violators to cease and coordinates arrests, when necessary, with local policing authorities.
- Promotes and maintains positive relations with the public. Inspectors will relate and converse with the public in a favorable manner and maintain an image acceptable in the field of law enforcement.
- Operates department vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Identifies and investigates actions that effect the security of the water supply, including, but not limited to, possible point source pollution, property abuse or vandalism; aids in forest fire monitoring and suppression, illegal hunting, trespass, etc. and all other investigations as directed by management.
- Keeps access roads and fence lines clear by removing obstructions.
- Responds to and assists in hazardous materials spill control.
- Collects water samples and measures reservoir elevations as necessary.
- Prepares reports on all activities as needed.
- Work is reviewed for progress and accomplishment by management.
- May be required to appear and give testimony at hearings and court proceedings.
- Adheres to all Providence Water safety procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent; associates or bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement is highly desirable.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License and is responsible to maintain all vehicles maintenance logs.
- Must be a competent swimmer and watercraft operator.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation equivalent to that required by local law enforcement agencies upon appointment and while in the position.
- Must be able to answer and respond to various radio calls from Providence Water, Police, and Fire Departments in a professional manner.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job and in adverse weather conditions.
Upon Appointment:
- Customer Service Training
- Sexual Harassment, Sensitivity, and Diversity Training
- Successful completion of Basic and Intermediate Computer Training course within one (1) year of appointment.
Sustainment:
- Participation in customer service training every 24 months.
- Must maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
