Position Summary
The Senior FP&A Consultant is a key strategic partner responsible for delivering advanced financial planning and analysis in alignment with the organization’s goals. Reporting to the Director of Financial Analytics and Planning, this role plays a pivotal part in strengthening the FP&A function by leading financial analyses, supporting forecasting and reporting processes, and providing actionable insights to leadership. The Senior FP&A Consultant focuses on performance improvement, capital and operations, planning, and strategic support for major clinical service lines.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis
- Works with the Director of Financial Analytics and Planning to enhance FP&A processes, tools, and methodologies that support strategic planning.
- Supports the development and refinement of forecasting and planning models, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Assists in the maintenance of long-range financial forecasts, including revenue, debt, and depreciation schedules.
- Supports executive-level financial presentations and reporting packages for senior leadership and the Board Finance Committee.
- Assists in the design and maintenance of dashboards and analytical tools that monitor financial and operational performance across the health system.
- Analyze historical and projected trends to identify key business drivers and assumptions.
- Operating Budget Support
- Support the system-wide annual operating budget process through advanced analytics and consultative guidance.
- Reporting and Compliance
- Provide leadership with reconciliations, financial reports, and ad hoc analyses.
- Contribute to special initiatives and projects that advance organizational goals.
- Collaboration and Influence
- Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused approach with finance, clinical, and operational leaders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership by translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
- Share expertise in financial planning systems and promote process improvement across FP&A functions.
- Provide mentorship and subject‑matter guidance to junior team members as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in healthcare finance, including financial analysis, decision support, revenue cycle, or reimbursement.
- Strong understanding of not‑for‑profit accounting standards and healthcare financial practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Strategic and critical thinking with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to anticipate and evaluate the long‑term impact of financial decisions.
- Skilled in process improvement, systems optimization, and driving efficiency.
