Job DescriptionSummary:
This part‑time (25 hours/week) position is responsible for coordinating the Post‑Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP at Brown), which supports individuals from underrepresented groups who are seeking to enroll in STEM PhD programs. The Program Coordinator manages recruitment, application, and selection processes for the program, coordinates mentor recruitment, oversees application review and selection, provides orientation and communication of program activities, and manages timelines and fiscal/logistical details.
The role also involves regular interaction with PREP Scholars and implementing programmatic aspects in collaboration with the program directors.
This is a fixed‑term position ending 1/31/2028, which may be extended based on available funding.
Responsibilities- Coordinate the recruitment, application, and selection processes for the PREP program.
- Recruit mentors and oversee mentor‑scholar matching.
- Conduct orientation sessions and communicate program activities to scholars.
- Manage program timelines, fiscal details, and logistical arrangements.
- Act as the primary contact for PREP Scholars and assist them throughout the program.
- Participate in program evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
Education and Experience
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree and 1‑2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Preferred:
Degree in a STEM‑related field. - Preferred:
Experience working in a university setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Financial management skills.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to multi‑task.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, File Maker, Google, social media, Constant Contact, internet, and Gmail.
- Ability to prioritize important projects when deadlines change and work independently or as part of a team.
- Interpersonal skills essential for working with administrators from member institutions of diverse populations.
- Strong project management skills.
- Commitment to working with diverse populations.
- Availability to work occasional evenings, early mornings, and/or weekends for special program events.
