Brown University – Program Advisor, Brown Collegiate Scholars Program

Brown Collegiate Scholars Program (BCSP) is a four-year, year‑round college access program for students living and learning in Providence. The Program seeks to empower academically motivated public school students who live and learn in Providence to explore their interests and strengthen their academic preparation in order to identify, select, afford and attend colleges that align with their aspirations. The focus is on developing student agency as a means for self-reflection, exploration, and self-determination, with particular attention to first‑generation and low‑income students.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of BCSP, the Program Advisor coaches incoming Providence Public School District high‑school students, advising them on college application and financial aid processes, coordinating exploration opportunities, securing advantageous financial aid packages, and supporting their transition to college. Work is carried out through one‑on‑one advising, group workshops, and college visits throughout New England. Program Advisors engage a single cohort of students for four years, receive training and ongoing support, and participate in regular team meetings.
