Overview

Providence College:
The Department of Philosophy invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor, starting August 2025. The Department has teaching needs in several areas, including History of Philosophy, Introduction to Philosophy, General Ethics, and Business Ethics. Successful candidates should either possess a Ph.D. or be ABD from an accredited institution and should have a demonstrable commitment to and/or experience with engaging diverse students in the classroom and supporting the Department’s focus on teaching the history of philosophy.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate should be willing to participate in interdisciplinary team teaching within the College’s Development of Western Civilization Program. The teaching load is three courses (9 credits) per semester.

Education and Experience

Applicants should either possess a Ph.D. or be ABD from an accredited institution.
