Job Description
Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Development Associate. This role provides advanced administrative support to the Assistant Vice President of Development and the Senior Director of Development, assisting them in building an engaged and supportive community of alumni, parents, and friends at Brown University.
Responsibilities- Coordinate donor meetings, including scheduling, logistics, and follow‑up actions.
- Prepare donor briefing materials and manage follow‑up communication with donors and campus partners.
- Assist with facilitating team meetings and retreats, managing complex calendars and budget tracking.
- Process expenses, budgeting, travel coordination, and document preparation.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong writing and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent blend of and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional administrative experience or related experience in alumni relations, fundraising, higher education, nonprofits, or similar fields.
- Proficient in Google and Microsoft platforms (Google Calendar, Docs, Gmail; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience coordinating complex travel arrangements, managing budgets, and working with data.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with discretion and sound judgment.
- Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Preferred:
Experience in a university setting and familiarity with BSR Advance and Blackbaud.
- Knowledge of inclusive fundraising principles.
- Advanced proficiency with audio/visual and presentation platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Web Ex).
- Detail-oriented, highly collaborative, and capable of multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with customer‑focused orientation.
- Initiative, discretion, sound judgment, and proven problem‑solving abilities.
