Job Description

Position:
Registered Nurse (RN) at Legacy ER & Urgent Care (Texas).

Schedule:

7:00 pm – 7:00 am with generous shift differentials. A $10K sign-on bonus is offered.

Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to care for patients of all ages and developmental stages who are experiencing changes in health. The RN participates in patient/family care and experience through critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing knowledge and skill. The RN is responsible for completing assigned duties in accordance with policies and procedures and for contributing to the successful operations of the shift in alignment with current Texas Board of Nursing standards.

The RN will help maintain the highest degree of quality patient care and patient satisfaction at all times.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides patient-focused nursing care of the acutely ill or injured patient. Utilizes the core nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting the course of treatment.
  • Ensures patient care is holistic and meets clinical and spiritual/emotional needs.
  • Triages and prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources. Implements the care plan and monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to provide well-coordinated patient care. Promotes positive interpersonal, interdepartmental, and inter-facility relationships. Ensures delegated tasks are within scope of practice, competency, and licensure, with clear communication of needs.
  • Performs essential job functions within scope of practice and adheres to policies and procedures set by Premier and regulatory guidelines (e.g., Texas Department of State Health Services, Board of Nurse Examiners, CLIA).
  • Adheres to laboratory procedures and safety guidelines; processes specimens according to established procedures, reports results, and files paperwork accordingly.
  • Provides basic respiratory services, including capnography, pulse oximetry, and administration of supplemental oxygen and nebulized treatments.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated to perform at a high level.
  • Maintains composure under job stress or emergency situations and adapts to workplace changes.
  • Facilitates patient transfer and discharge.
  • Contributes to departmental policy development and documentation to reflect current emergency care standards and focus on family-friendly, compassionate care with minimal wait times.
  • Attends unit meetings, stays informed of departmental, facility, and organizational goals, and assists in disseminating information to team members.
  • Participates in staff assessments and performance evaluations; fosters a positive environment for staff development and ongoing education.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned and participates in ongoing professional development.
Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to hear and speak; frequently sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms, and lift and move more than 10 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to lift/move objects up to 25 lbs; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Must be able to make decisions and concentrate continuously.
Qualifications

Education Qualifications and Credentials

  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas (or compact license with Texas).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS and PALS (required; can be obtained within first 30 days).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an RN in an Emergency Department setting.

Knowledge, Abilities And Skills

Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations applicable to Freestanding Emergency Centers and nursing practice. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
