Core Duties and Responsibilities- Post insurance and/or patient payments to Epic and balance postings to bank deposits in a timely and accurate manner. Postings may include electronic remittance processing or manual posting from a paper remittance.
- Assist patients in face-to-face transaction processing.
- Answer patient questions related to statements and collect patient copays and deposits according to insurance coverage regulations and organizational financial policy.
- Process electronic remittances initiating transaction posting in Epic and work transactions that do not post correctly to route to the appropriate accounts.
- Identify unidentified payment transactions that route to the clearing account and follow facility processes to move non-patient money to the correct general ledger account.
- Balance postings to bank deposits using Epic and Microsoft Excel; maintain timely and accurate postings according to departmental goals.
- Document accounts clearly and accurately; analyze and reconcile posting amounts from patient payments and other sources to the patient accounting system and accounting department.
- Use system software, including online credit card systems and the Epic system; enter insurance information provided by patients and queue the billing department when required.
- Process cashier window related transactions via Epic; collect patient copays and deposits according to regulations and policy; accurately communicate account information to patients.
- Maintain petty cash transactions and request monthly reimbursement funds; access scanned information via One Content imaging system.
- Complete and reconcile bank deposits daily; utilize Epic work queues to work exception accounts; review and reconcile all postings monthly with the accounting department as needed.
- Participate in educational programs to meet mandatory requirements and identified needs for job and personal growth.
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure: High School Graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bookkeeping and cash balancing experience.
- One (1) year medical billing/medical office experience.

- Office type environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and third party payers preferred.
- Knowledge of business math and ICD-10/CPT coding processes preferred.
- Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette; ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.
- Knowledge of patient accounting principles and procedures; working knowledge of computers.
- Maintains knowledge of current online banking systems.
