Senior Software Engineer – Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics (CPP) product team, Cambridge, MA, and Lawrenceville, NJ.
Position SummarySenior Software Engineer responsible for Pharmacometrics product suite development within the CPP product team. The product suite supports scientists who work on various pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modelling methods. In this role, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse product team members, impacting the scientific community through software development and understanding their information needs.
Will be working under the direction of the Product Owner, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics.
Key Responsibilities- Work as part of the development team responsible for the overall technical deliverables of the various tools, applications and platforms used within Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics.
- Handle enhancement requests within release schedules, interim workarounds, application lifecycle management and assist with new product evaluations and deployments.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams (LDAP, AWS, Info Security, ITQM/ITQA, Scientific Computing Services, storage teams) and external vendors (Metrum, Simulations Plus, Pumas
AI/Julia Hub, AWS and other partners). - Develop documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and maintain clean code.
- Utilise available internal training opportunities.
- Collect, analyse, and summarise development and service issues.
- Strong software development skills to enable statistical analysis and PK/PD modelling and simulation tools for the Pharmacometrics scientific community.
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux desktop virtual machines, HPC grid (SGE, Slurm).
- Experience developing and managing AWS environments, including Parallel Cluster, Kubernetes, Multiverse.
- Well‑versed with Agile Development methodologies.
- Strong documentation and presentation skills.
- Self‑motivated team player.
- 3‑5 years’ experience as an applications developer in private, public, government or military environments (large and small projects).
- 3 years’ experience configuring and developing software leveraging modelling and simulation tools such as R, NONMEM, Monolix, Python, PsN, Pirana, SAS, Jupyter Hub.
- 2‑3 years’ experience working in a Linux environment.
- 1‑2 years’ experience with validated systems.
- Good working experience building and enhancing custom shell and python scripts.
- Experience with version control (SVN, Git Hub).
- Familiarity with R package management strategies.
- Integration experience.
- Python (primary) and R programming skills, integrating with API endpoints in AWS or Google Cloud, knowledge of markdown languages such as Quarto/Typst.
- Experience with LLM content ingestion, prompt engineering and content generation involving complex tables and images, including special characters, headers, footers and merged columns to create new reports from a variety of source documents (preferred).
- Understand all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
- Understand various SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).
- Familiarity with R/RStudio/RShiny.
