IT Project Manager; NERC CIP

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced NERC CIP Project Manager who is interested in supporting large information technology projects for our Utility Technologies Solutions team. In this role, you will be driving the execution and delivery of IT projects for our electric utility client. Additionally, you will ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to our Mission, Vision, and Values.

This project is to prepare and oversee a NERC CIP audit for the client. This person will track CIP evidence responses, and ensure the team is ready for audit.

Location:

The client is located in New Jersey. Candidate can be remote but must be willing to travel to the NJ area once a month as needed.

• Direct project team personnel, manage cost and schedule, ensure contract compliance, and serve as customer interface.
• Track CIP evidence responses, and ensure the team is ready audit.
• Manage technical scope, cost, and schedule of assigned tasks or functions of the project.
• Provide strong, proactive, and assertive leadership skills that engage multidiscipline work teams to respond to business needs for assigned projects.
• Lead project team members such as executives, line of business subject matter experts, controllers, and schedulers through the lifecycle of a project.
• Manage project teams that typically include multiple vendors with onshore and offshore resources.
• Create project management plans, set expectations, execute governance reviews and ensure the project plans are driven by organizational procedures.
• Co‑ordinates with cross‑functional project stakeholders to develop project scope, objectives, goals, and deliverables.
• Ensure that requirements are gathered, documented, reviewed and approved per organizational/PMO standards.
• Work with assigned scheduler to create a work breakdown structure that defines all activities required for the project deliverables.
• Manage project budget, maintain financial plan, track actuals vs. plan, provide monthly forecasts, report monthly accruals.
• Establish and provide high‑quality, informative written and verbal project communications, including weekly status, dashboards, and project updates.
• Actively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, attainment of established milestones and overall quality of project activities and deliverables.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree with 8 years of experience as an IT Project Manager. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• 5 years experience managing security projects.
• Demonstrated previous experience leading, executing, and documenting at least one NERC CIP audit at a major US utility company is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with senior to executive level management.
• Ability to manage schedule and costs, and ability to provide written status reports and craft materials.
• Solid understanding and previous experience of Project Management and Project Management Office processes and procedures required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet or similar project management tool.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships, partnerships, and external networks.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and work effectively in a collaborative team environment while keeping the team informed.

• Excellent decision‑making and organizational skills are required.
• Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other security guidelines where appropriate.

• PMP or equivalent is preferred.
