Job Overview

The Principal Platforms Lead Director (Director, Business Platforms and Tools) will lead the Otsuka Commercial IT Sales Technologies platforms & teams by providing superior operational and project delivery across all technology initiatives. The role will oversee all aspects of the execution of commercial CRM, Field Sales Reporting, Sales Operations, and Data Enablement Reporting, as well as prioritize and oversee associated projects and budget planning.

Additionally, the Director will manage the operations support team for this domain.

Job Summary

The Director leads operational delivery of roadmap execution, prioritizes projects, and coordinates with IT partners to ensure successful deployment strategies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver key programs across the roadmap, managing technical teams and ensuring timely, high‑quality delivery.
  • Oversee Center of Excellence teams and Managed Service Providers, defining priorities, coordinating with business partners, building business cases, and ensuring SLA compliance.
  • Vendor Management:
    Select vendors, manage financial and performance aspects, and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Financial Management:
    Create and review annual budgets, forecasts, and re‑plans, aligning with finance functions.
  • IT Leadership:
    Influence IT strategies, optimize operations, and lead internal initiatives.
  • Career Development:
    Mentor and coach direct reports, fostering a balanced, healthy, and prosperous career environment.
Qualifications

Minimum 15+ years of experience providing business solutions, managing global platform implementations, with at least 5 years in Life Sciences and 3 years in a leadership capacity.

Working knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations and key business processes.

Superior presentation and executive presence skills; ability to influence and drive action across all levels.

Experience with organizational change management, conflict resolution, and business‑technology innovation.

Up to 10% travel required.

Experience managing globally distributed teams, especially in Japan, EU and India.

Hands‑on experience with SDLC and portfolio/project management (PPM) methodologies.

Key Technical Skills Required
  • Veeva CRM (Field, KAM, CLM, Sampling, Remote Engagement)
  • Alignment Functions (roster, segmentation & targeting, territory alignment)
  • Salesforce Sales Cloud / Service Cloud
  • Platform architecture definition, data flow governance, release planning, configuration, integration & validation.
  • Integration Architecture & Data Flows: APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, real‑time & batch integrations, integration tools (Mulesoft, Boomi, Informatica, Azure Integration Services).
  • Reference data mapping, HCP/HCO master data flows, identity and roster data models, data lineage and stewardship.
  • Data, reporting & analytics:
    Customer 360 models, Field insights dashboards (Power BI, My Insights), KPI frameworks, data warehouses/lakes (Azure, AWS, Databricks).
Key Past Experiences Needed
  • Leading large‑scale SFA/CRM implementations, including CRM/CLM rollout, field operating model transformation, and alignment platform implementation.
  • Experience with regulated pharma environments (PDMA‑compliant sampling, digital signatures).
  • Vendor & partner management at scale, contract negotiation, SLAs, compliance reviews, and multi‑vendor delivery ecosystems.
  • Data‑driven field performance optimization: next‑best‑action engines, field insights dashboards, call‑planning or targeting algorithms, reducing alignment cycle time.
