About the Role:
A well-established dermatology practice is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to lead its revenue cycle operations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, lower-volume environment compared to large hospital systems. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned medical billing professional with experience managing a small team and working within a private dermatology or specialty medical office.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing billing operations, optimizing revenue processes, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Candidates must live within 15–20 miles of the Princeton, NJ area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete revenue cycle including charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and collections.
- Supervise a billing team of 5, providing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as collection rates and aging accounts.
- Ensure accurate coding using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS standards.
- Stay current on insurance guidelines, payer policies, and dermatology-specific billing practices.
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and outstanding balances with professionalism and compassion.
- Work closely with clinical staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Prepare monthly billing and financial performance reports for leadership.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance billing accuracy and reduce denials.
- Oversee credentialing and payer enrollment as needed.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- 10+ years of medical billing experience, including 5+ years in a management role.
- Experience in a dermatology or small physician office setting (required).
- Familiarity with AdvancedMD or similar practice management systems (required); experience with large EMRs like Epic not preferred.
- Billing coder certification is a significant plus.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Resides within a 15–20 mile radius of Princeton, NJ (required).
