Requirements of the Certified Home Health Aide - MUST HAVE A VALID NEW JERSEY HOME HEALTH AIDE LICENSE!
Certified Home Health Aides must be detail-oriented and able to carefully follow protocols and rules regarding patient care. Aides must adhere to instructions from doctors and nurses, such as managing minor medical issues or reporting changes in the patient’s health. They should be trustworthy and dependable to ensure patients and their families feel comfortable relying on them.
Skills and qualifications include:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- At least 1 year of experience as a Caregiver/Certified Home Health Aide in healthcare (homes or facilities)
- Valid NJ Licensed Certified Home Health Aide
- Fully COVID vaccinated & booster
- Two-step PPD test
- Physical within the last 12 months
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job
- Valid driver’s license and insured automobile
Responsibilities include:
Helping patients with daily functions, taking vital signs, administering medication under nurse’s direction, and recording/reporting health data. Assisting with grooming, bathing, planning doctor appointments, organizing transportation, and performing facility work—hourly or live-in.
Additional duties may include:
- Housekeeping (vacuuming, laundry)
- Meal prep and cooking
- Grocery shopping
- Reporting health status to nurses
- Teaching self-care skills
Compensation and Benefits:
- Full-Time, Part-Time, Per-Diem: $17-20/hour (based on experience)
