ANI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the Retina/Ophthalmology therapeutic area. The MSL will serve as a liaison to the medical/scientific community and will be responsible for establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with medical experts nationwide.
Job Summary
The Medical Science Liaison will establish and maintain relationships with medical experts in the Retina and/or Ophthalmology divisions nationwide, and will provide timely, accurate, and balanced scientific information to healthcare professionals and decision makers.
- Disseminate clinical and scientific information regarding marketed and pipeline compounds in a timely, ethical, and customer-focused manner.
- Collaborate with other ANI colleagues to implement clinical and educational strategies for designated customers, including potential clinical trial site placement and sponsor ships.
- Pair key scientific leaders’ educational and research needs with ANI resources; provide the latest emerging data in response to healthcare professional inquiries.
- Present accurate, unbiased, and timely information to unsolicited information requests about ANI products.
- Establish scientific and clinical relationships with key opinion leaders and academic centers to expand research and educational opportunities.
- Provide study support from protocol and budget development to submission and completion for Phase IV and Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs).
- Document and forward adverse event reports to appropriate ANI personnel.
- Stay informed about medical and scientific developments in the assigned therapeutic area.
- Report competitive activities and events that could influence the use of ANI products.
- Develop and deliver specialized scientific/educational programs, including formulary presentations for managed care and related organizations.
- Assist Medical and Scientific Affairs and agency personnel in developing presentations and slide kits.
- Participate in advisory boards, speaker trainings, clinical investigator meetings, and regional, national, and international meetings when required.
- Assist in processing field requests for medical education funding.
- Participate in key medical and scientific conferences by staffing medical information booths and collecting competitive intelligence.
- Represent the organization as a prime field medical contact.
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to interact with medical professionals at all levels.
- Working knowledge of FDA and OIG requirements, clinical trial design, and statistics.
- Strong clinical knowledge including pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, medical expert engagement strategies, and FDA promotional guidelines and ethics for the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to establish trust through demonstrated scientific expertise and timely follow-up on expert inquiries.
- Clear, strategic, and actionable communication for senior management.
- Proactive self-starter who can lead work and manage others independently.
- Understanding of the healthcare environment and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with high ethical standards.
- Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Advanced degree in a health-sciences related field (e.g., Pharm
D, MD, PhD). - 2+ years of prior Field Medical experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Previous experience in Retina/Ophthalmology strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel 60% or more of the time; extensive travel is integral to the role.
The base salary range for this position is $165,000 - $220,000, with exact compensation depending on experience, location, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible for a competitive short-term incentive program based on performance and company results.
