Financial Controller

X4 Life Sciences are partnered with an expanding medical device manufacturer based in New Jersey to identify an accomplished and hands‑on Financial Controller. This individual will oversee all accounting operations while delivering strategic financial insights that support the organisation’s continued growth trajectory. The role leads a team of three accounting professionals and reports directly to the executive leadership team, contributing to key decisions that shape financial strategy, operational performance, and long‑term profitability.

• Manages all core financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury activities, and cash management.
• Leads FP&A initiatives, including profitability analysis by product and customer, KPI tracking, variance reporting, and development of forecasting models.
• Oversees month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and fully compliant financial reporting (GAAP and regulatory).
• Establishes and enhances internal controls across the general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, sales tax, and expense management workflows.
• Oversees multi‑state sales tax compliance, including filings, reconciliations, and necessary adjustments.
• Maintains and develops banking relationships, oversees credit matters, and manages cash‑flow strategy.
• Collaborates with the executive team to support strategic planning, pricing strategy, operational optimisation, and long‑term financial growth.
• Prepares executive‑level financial presentations and reporting, supporting future public‑company readiness and compliance.
• Leads, mentors, and develops a team of three accounting professionals.
• Operates effectively within a fast‑paced, small‑company environment while fostering a collaborative and professional team culture.

• 5+ years of progressive experience within accounting and finance.
• Experience in medical devices, manufacturing, or other regulated industries strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in financial performance evaluation and profitability analysis.
• Experience collaborating directly with senior or executive leadership.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and detailed data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
• A proactive, ownership‑driven mindset with exceptional professional discipline.
• Experience with the Rippling workplace management system is highly desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
