We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support the monthly/quarterly/annual financial close and financial reporting processes for a STAT basis insurance company and a GAAP basis management company. The Senior Accountant will focus primarily on financial reporting but will be expected to assist in operational/budgeting and ad hoc accounting projects as needed. This role will report directly to the Financial Reporting Director.

• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close for insurance entity (STAT basis) and management company (GAAP basis)
• Prepare account reconciliations and process journal entries
• Prepare variance analysis to explain fluctuations in key accounts
• Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures
• Interact with external auditors to provide explanations/support for financial statement audits
• Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of policies and procedures and internal controls
• Support Financial Reporting Director in preparation of materials for quarterly Board reporting (slide deck, industry highlights, etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Minimum 3 years of experience (public accounting or industry)
• Experience in both GAAP and STAT reporting for insurance companies
• Very proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong financial accounting/general ledger skills and understanding
• Experience in Property & Casualty insurance with emphasis on private passenger auto preferred
• Experience working with general ledger software preferred
• Experience with STAT Annual Statement software (Gain Compliance, Wings, FIS, etc.) preferred

Physical Actions/Environment:
Required job duties consist of prompt and regular attendance, ability to frequently move about the office to coordinate work with others; standing, sitting and typing for extended periods; and lifting and/or carrying up to 5 lbs. Ability to frequently communicate with others in-person, on the phone/virtually, and in writing. Ability to read, understand, process and evaluate large amounts of technical information and make related, informed decisions.

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 annually based on experience

Schedule:

We offer flexible work hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with options like 8–4, 8:30–4:30, or 9–5. We do our best to support individual preferences, though schedules may be adjusted as needed to ensure strong coverage and teamwork.

We also offer a hybrid schedule: team members work onsite four days a week and can work remotely one day a week.
