Research Assistant - Temporary

Overview

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks a Research Assistant for a position beginning in February 2026 and lasting approximately 17 weeks. The successful candidate will report to the Duane Wilder, Class of 1951, Associate Curator of European Art, and will work ten hours a week to assist with research related to a 2027 exhibition and publication on Édouard Manet and depictions of the Roma in nineteenth-century Europe.

Essential Requirements

The candidate must have an M.A. in Art History or a related field, with demonstrated research skills and knowledge of nineteenth-century French art history. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and experience writing and editing museum interpretation.

Preferred Requirements

A PhD or PhD candidacy in art history or a related field and previous museum and/or publication experience are preferred. Reading knowledge of French is a plus.
